This was one of my favorite briefs from my second year at university. The project was our chance to create a piece of self promotion that really sold ourselves, and hopefully land our first job in the design industry.
My piece was a booklet that explained unique points of my character in an abstract theme. I used a simple cardboard box to relate these points to. After taking photos of the box I then went into InDesign to layout the pages, copy and images to go in.
When I printed the final work I used newspaper stock and printed in black & white to flow with the relationship with the paper and the content. The cover was printed onto pages of the ‘Financial Times’ which is a peach colour newspaper stock. It was also already printed on, which contrasted with the printed cover design.
After university I revisited this project and updated the design so it could be reproduced much easier. I changed the cover to parcel card and used a quality ‘off-white’ stock for the pages. The content was photocopied, which not only helped production but also created a very contrasting affect on the photos.
