The brief was to design a Nokia short based on the words: audio transition motion. It must be viral, play on a mobile phone and be small enough to send via bluetooth. After reading the brief I thought about using some newly learnt technology in my work. During the previous summer I had been taught how to make an amp that looped electrical feedback causing some very interesting sounds.
I used iMovie to record the sounds from the amp and Flash for the visuals. The visual was a simple circle as it would be clear to see on small screen, and it would be easier to notice the movements to the sounds. The viral video is very basic in its form but the combination of the movement and sounds together makes the simple white circle come to life.
After the positive feedback I received from the first video I created a second video, this time it used a different sample of sound and a square as the character.
Overall I am really pleased with the outcome and I think it works well as an animation and as a viral video for mobiles. I could really see them being sent regularly between phones, or even set as a screen saver on a mobile. The only element I would have added was more animations.
