In my second year at university we were given the opportunity to enter the BD4D competition for the Wellcome Collection in London.
“The Wellcome Trust would like to commission Flash content for this new venue that is playful and engaging. The interactive pieces will be accessed via a Flash interface which uses the Wellcome Collection Word Soup.”
Out of the Soup of words supplied I chose the following:
SKELETON, MUTATION, MOLECULAR, EUGENICS, OPERATION, STEROID, BLOOD, EXPERIMENT, END.
I created a typographic interaction that morphed the word ‘Mutation’ into the other words I selected. The interaction was shortlisted and I was asked to attend the award ceremony in London.
This was a test of my skills in Flash and helped me learn the basics of animation within the application. Click on the letters to initiate the animations, and click ‘reset’ to revert the interaction.
